Tips for selling your photos as stock

Posted by & filed under Travel Photography.

If you’ve ever thought about selling your photos, but have no idea where to start, try online stock agencies. Some of my favorites are Shutterstock.com, Adobestock.com, and iStock.com (now owned by Getty Images).

These sites are excellent for beginners – and anyone with a bunch of photos sitting on their computer – because:

• You don’t need a lick of experience to start…
• You don’t have to do any printing, pitching, or “selling”…
• It’s passive income that collects while you’re off doing other things…
• Starting is easy – you can be up-and-selling in an afternoon…
• And now, you can even do it with your phone!

Typically, simple photos sell best. And the great thing is, you get to be the “creative director,” choosing any photo subject you like, and incorporating it into your daily life. There’s a market for just about anything.

For example, here are some of my photos that have sold this month:

Yes – that last one is a phone photo.

If you have shots like these and you’d love to sell them, I’ll tell you more about what to look for tomorrow.
